At €22.8 billion, total holdings of Portfolio Investments (PH) assets in 2020 were €22.8 billion, down 7% compared to €24,504.1 million in 2019.
According to the Central Bank (CBC), this decrease is the result of a "reduced trend in equity securities and investment fund shares/units and, to a lesser extent, short-term investments in debt securities by residents abroad".
According to the CBC data, the main counterparty countries, in terms of EFF, for resident investors were Russia with 57%, Ireland with 11%, Luxembourg with 10% and the United States of America with 8%, followed by other countries with the remaining 14%.
