[CNA] Police and UN search for second girl in Athienou area

Intensive searches are being conducted by the Police and the United Nations with the help of a helicopter in the buffer zone and free areas, to locate a second 3-year-old girl, twin sister of the one who was found unaccompanied today at dawn on the old Pyroiou - Larnaca road, near Athienou.

In a statement to CNA, Police Headquarters Press Spokesman Christos Andreou said that "at around 4am today we were informed by United Nations men conducting a patrol on the old Pyroio-Larnaca road, within the buffer zone in the Athienou area, that a minor girl, aged 3, was found unaccompanied."

He added that "members of the Police picked up the little girl, who was taken to the Athienou Police Station, members of which informed the Social Welfare Services, who took care of her.
