The approval by the Council of Ministers of the "National Strategy for Thalassaemia and other Haemoglobinopathies" is welcomed by the Pancyprian Anti-Anaemic Association. This is the most important development in recent years in relation to the treatment of Thalassaemia, it notes.
According to the Association's statement, the adoption of the National Strategy by the State creates the conditions for Cyprus to become, once again, a model in the management of Thalassaemia, in terms of prevention, research and medical monitoring, but also for the way the State treats people with Thalassaemia and other haemoglobinopathies.
