Unanimously with 43 votes against, the Plenary Session of the Parliament rejected the referral sent by the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades regarding the law he had voted for the horizontal reduction of VAT on electricity from 19% to 9%.
Apart from the opposition parties that had supported the specific proposal, the Democratic Rally also rejected the referral, with DISY MP Harris Georgiades stating that the party does not change its position on the substance, but rejects it for reasons of order and constitutional correctness, respecting the right of the Parliament to determine the tax policy of the state.
