[CNA] Parliament passed the state budget for 2022 (1)

The House of Assembly passed the state budget for 2022 by a majority vote. 30 MPs voted in favour and 25 against. The parties DISY, DIKO and DIPA were in favour and AKEL, ELAM, EDEK and the Movement of Ecologists were against.

According to its President Marinos Sizopoulos, the EPP voted against the budget, voting in favour of the budgets of the Ministries of Defence, Labour, Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare.

The budget for 2022 is in deficit. The government has set a goal of gradually returning state budgets to balance by the year 2024.

In relation to general government, the budget projects revenues (excluding financial flows) of €9,691 million, up 4.9% compared to 2020, and expenditures (excluding loan repayments) of €9,960
