The 28-year-old man accused of dozens of burglaries and thefts, who had escaped from the Paphos police detention centre last month, was arraigned on Thursday for a direct trial before the Paphos Criminal Court.

The 28-year-old, who was re-arrested last Saturday after escaping with a 34-year-old, who is still wanted, was brought before the Paphos District Court today before his eight-day detention order expired.

He was referred for trial at the Cairo Court and it was decided that for the burglaries he will remain in custody until the start of proceedings on April 3, while for his escape he will also remain in custody until March 15.
