[CNA] One in four incidents of harassment of journalists in 2021 linked to coronavirus

26.5% of incidents of harassment of journalists in 2021 will be linked to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the study "Mapping Media Freedom" published by the European Federation of Journalists in collaboration with the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom.

As far as Cyprus is concerned, 4 cases have been recorded. The attack against the Sigma channel in July 2021 by protesters against the measures, cyber attacks on the Turkish Cypriot newspapers Özgür Gazete and Nuri Sılay linked to references to the mafia and the death threat received by journalist Esra Aygin after she criticised the Turkish Cypriot leader.
