The Central Bank of Russia raised interest rates again on Friday, as the authorities try to contain rapidly rising inflation and rising food prices.

Inflation has been rising sharply for months, with food prices soaring, hitting many Russians with low incomes and small savings.

At a meeting on Friday, Russia's central bank raised its key interest rate by 100 basis points to 9.50%.
