The Larnaca Drainage Board (LDS) has secured a 13.5 million euro allocation, which will be used for the construction of new flood protection works in areas of the city that continue to face problems from heavy rainfall.

As the Director of SAL Angelos Hadjicharalambous told CNA, "the money, which comes from the European funds of the 2021-2027 programming period, amounts to 13.5 million euros and will be used for selected flood control infrastructure in areas that continue to be affected by flooding, despite the fact that there is an installed drainage system."

He explained that "these areas are the parish of Kalyfatzion, Agioi Anargyron Avenue, part of Alexandros Panagouli Avenue and Papanikoli Street.
