Yiannos Kouyoumtzian completed his participation in the 24th Winter Olympics held in Beijing, as on Wednesday he went out of the race shortly after the start of his attempt in the first descent (technical descent) and was disqualified from the continuation. Earlier on Sunday, Kuyumjian had placed 42nd in the giant descent event.
According to a press release from the Cyprus Olympic Committee, the Cypriot skier said of his disqualification that "after the first 15-20 gates, I lost my line a little bit, I didn't have time to make a correction and leaving to the right I was off the track".
