Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who is on an official visit to Nicosia, arrived at the Presidential Palace at around eleven o'clock.
He was received by President Anastasiades and after the national anthems of the two countries were played, Mr Herzog laid a wreath at the statue of Archbishop Makarios.
The two Presidents will have a private meeting followed by extended talks between delegations of the two countries and statements by the two Presidents to the media.
The President of the Republic will present the President of Israel with a salute.
Bilateral relations, the invasion of Ukraine and the Cyprus problem are on the agenda of the talks.
