The International Energy Agency on Friday raised its forecast for global oil demand in 2022, but warned of "chronic" failure by OPEC and its allies to meet their production targets.

The 13 members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) led by Saudi Arabia and its 10 allies, including Russia, had cut production significantly in 2020 as prices collapsed following the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The group, dubbed OPEC+, began increasing production in 2021, renewing its target of 400 each month.
