Turkey's central bank kept its main interest rates steady once again on Thursday, as the country faces galloping inflation that has put pressure on households and the Erdogan government.

The bank kept its key interest rate at 14 percent for the second time in a row, following a four-month run of cuts that triggered a currency crisis at the end of last year that decimated people's purchasing power. Inflation reached nearly 50% in January, a 20-year high, which further slashed people's purchasing power.
