About 12% to 13% of students in Technical Education were absent and about 7% of teachers were absent, said OLTEK Secretary General Lenos Loizou, in a statement to CNA.
Responding to a question about how today's reopening of schools after the Christmas holidays went, Loizou said the problems were expected.
"The absences of both teachers and students were expected. What we expected to see was the percentage of absences," he said, adding that "approximately in students in Technical Education we had 12% to 13% absences and approximately we had 7% absences in teachers."
According to him, "the reasons for absenteeism were that several colleagues were contacts or shocks, the same was true for students, but if we consider that next Friday is the beginning of the exams
