The Pancyprian Bar Association (PBA) welcomes the passage by the House of Representatives of the law establishing the Anti-Corruption Authority in a statement issued on Friday.

According to the statement, with the contribution of the IDA, the goal of the Authority being substantial with the right to take statements and the right to investigate corruption cases was achieved, while the IDA's recommendation for the advisory council was also adopted.

It is stated that the adoption of the law is a positive first step towards restoring the public's credibility with the institutions, but adds that much more needs to be done and the IDA will continue to work in this direction.
