The PEA announced that a meeting of the SYXKA-PEO Secretariat discussed the increasing demand of hoteliers for securing work permits from third countries, adding that it found that the intentions of hoteliers are unfortunately not sincere.

He expressed the view that their intention is to use workers from third countries for further deregulation, to reduce wages and benefits and that few hoteliers have made any effort to improve working conditions so as to attract stable permanent staff.

Further calls on the Hotel Owners' Associations to respect the Collective Agreements that they themselves have just signed and to apply the Collective Agreements in their recruitments, to call on employees, whether Cypriot or Community workers who were employed until 2019 to return to work
