Higher average retail prices, compared to last year's average retail price, were recorded for almost all fresh meat and delicatessen products included in the survey carried out on 16 December by the Consumer Protection Service in order to better inform consumers ahead of the Christmas holidays.
The exceptions were the average retail price of Ground Beef and Christmas Cake, which were slightly lower than last year's average retail price for both products.
As for fresh meats, the Consumer Protection Agency said in a statement that prices were obtained from 90 outlets (large and small supermarkets and neighbourhood butchers), while for delicacies from 49 outlets (large supermarkets and bakeries).
