The government's decision to reduce the excise tax on fuel is insufficient, the DEOK said in a statement today, while calling for a comprehensive package of measures.
According to the ICFTU, "piecemeal measures without coherence and social effectiveness are doomed to failure", adding that it expects the government to come up with a comprehensive package of measures that effectively covers workers, the unemployed, low pensioners and people who rely on welfare benefits.
Specifically, it calls for a review of benefit policy and an adjustment of all social welfare benefits, as well as extraordinary financial support for small pensioners.
