The initiative group "Communities in Action" of the 12 communities affected by the decision to move the asphalt plant from Cherry to Mitsero, expresses its outrage at the positive opinion received by the Department of Environment on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of Prometheas Asphalt Ltd.
"Our Group is in a position to know that during the evaluation process, additions upon additions were constantly made to the Prometheas Asphalt Ltd study until the technical issues fit the narrative of the political decision," the initiative said in a statement.
According to the Initiative, this demonstrates that the decision to relocate asphalt to the site "was a foregone conclusion and the possibility of a negative opinion from the Environment Department did not exist".
