The Famagusta Yacht Club mourns, as stated in a statement, for the death of Panikos Prokopiou, who passed away on Monday 27 December and expresses sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
It also states that in an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors of the Club, as a sign of respect and mourning for his loss, it was decided that the flags of NOA fly at half-mast for 3 days, the presence of the entire Board of Directors at the funeral and the laying of a wreath, suspension of the scheduled festive event of the consecration and cutting of the royal cake on January 9th and renaming of one of the two annual marathons within the framework of the Ioannidias to the Panikos Prokopios Marathon
