Every 11 seconds in 2021 there was a ransomware attack in cyberspace compared to 39 seconds in 2019, according to statistics released on Friday by the National Cyber Attack Response Team (National CSIRT-CY), which provides simple and useful advice to citizens on cybersecurity.

In a statement, CSIRT-CY reports that in 2021, 43% of cyber attacks targeted small and medium-sized businesses, noting that these attacks have increased by 400% since the start of the pandemic.

It also notes that companies and organizations, as well as many foreign governments, have been affected by the theft of intellectual property, trade secrets and other highly valuable information by Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups.
