Issues of the competitive electricity market and the need to study the holding of competitive tenders of appropriate capacity and the channelling of the electricity produced in a way that does not favour or disadvantage any of the market players, raised by the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (CTEK) at a meeting with the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA), which undertook to study them.

In a statement, ETEK said that "its intervention is aimed at reflection and synthesis of views in order to shield the average household and small and medium-sized enterprises from the large fluctuation (upward trend) of energy prices and to ensure that the burdens and benefits of the energy transition are shared fairly and do not create conditions for speculation by some".
