Due to strong winds and severe weather phenomena, the Cyprus Electricity Authority (CEC) network was damaged, resulting in the interruption of electricity supply from Saturday evening in areas of the Paphos district and from Sunday morning in areas of the Limassol and Nicosia districts.
In a statement to CNA, AHK spokeswoman Christina Papadopoulou said that the faults were caused by falling trees on AHK cables or due to the fact that tree branches got entangled in the overhead cables or due to the fact that foreign objects were found in the Authority's overhead network and caused a short circuit, and noted that due to the fact that fierce winds continue, new incidents of faults are occurring.
"The AHK crews have been on standby since Saturday and are making efforts to restore the damage as soon as possible, π
