Eight cases of driving motor vehicles under the influence of drugs were found among other traffic offences during traffic checks carried out overnight. In addition, police arrested a motorcycle driver for committing traffic offences and stabbing.
In a statement, the police stressed that "substances such as drugs and alcohol have been proven to contribute to a reduction in the mental and psychological effort exerted while driving and to a reduction in the performance of the driver's skills, thus increasing the risk of causing a traffic collision".
