A young man, aged 24, was allegedly driving his car at almost twice the speed last night in Larnaca and was arrested by the police for a self-inflicted offence.
A written statement from the Police Headquarters Communication Office said that "at around 11.15 on Saturday night, February 12, while members of the Headquarters Road Accident Prevention Unit (RAPU) were conducting a traffic control on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue in Larnaca, a car was intercepted which was travelling at a speed of 95 km/h instead of 50 km/h".
