Novak Djokovic, world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic, has filed an appeal against the Australian authorities' decision to cancel his visa and expel him from the country.

Melbourne judge Anthony Kelly will later hear the application of the Serb, who has been detained by immigration officials in Melbourne since arriving in the country on Wednesday afternoon with the intention of playing in the Australian Open.

Novak Djokovic did not provide sufficient evidence of the medical exemption he received, nor did he produce the visa needed to enter Australia, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said today.
