The Search and Rescue exercise called "Tefcros 01/2022" took place on Thursday in an area near Larnaca Airport with the main objective of training personnel, familiarizing them with the special environment of the salt marshes and testing specialized equipment for dealing with incidents in the salt marshes. The scenario of the exercise concerned an air accident in a salt marsh, the response to which required the activation of the Special National Plan "TEYKROS".
In a written statement by the Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (RSRC) it is stated that "the scenario involved a civilian passenger aircraft, which during the landing procedure at Larnaca airport, experienced a failure in the hydraulic system of the landing gear.
