The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Cyprus (UNHCR) acknowledges the increasing migratory pressures that Cyprus is facing as a frontline state, especially in recent times, but believes that there are solutions that can lead to a decongestion of asylum procedures for people who do not need international protection.
Head of the Office Katia Saha spoke to Cyprus News Agency on the difficult situation at the Pournara centre and Nicosia's efforts to obtain urgent assistance from the EU.
