Cypriot MEPs have sent a written question to the European Commission regarding the "trial" of the opposition Turkish Cypriot journalist Ali Kishmir.
MEPs Dimitris Papadakis, Costas Mavridis, George Georgiou, Niyazi Kizilgiurek, Lefteris Christoforou and Loukas Fourla refer to the "prosecution" of Mr. Kishmir in the occupied territories on the occasion of an opinion article published during the "presidential elections" and stress that Ankara and its partners in the occupied territories are making "efforts to silence and intimidate journalists and progressive TCs, violating the right to freedom of opinion and expression".
