The Department of Health is urging consumers to be very careful about drinking drinks whose origin is unclear, following reports that cases of poisoning have been identified abroad, with one death in Germany after drinking from a bottle of champagne that turned out to contain a hard drug.

The bottle was purchased from an unknown online source, it added.

According to a statement, the Ministry's Health Services have received information through the Food and Feed Early Warning System (RASFF) that cases of poisoning have been identified in Germany and the Netherlands, with one death in Germany following consumption of a drink from a 3 litre bottle of Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial champagne.
