Asian markets were down at the start of the trading day on Friday, while oil prices surged after news that a nuclear power plant was set on fire during fighting in Ukraine.
Following news that a unit at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was struck, Wall Street closed with losses while stock markets across Asia were in the red, with Japan down 2.3%, South Korea down 1.4% and Australia down 1.2%.
Oil prices surged on Friday with the market focusing on whether OPEC+ producing countries, including Saudi Arabia and Russia, will increase production compared to January.
