Untraceable tobacco and cigarettes were found in the possession of a 58-year-old man by members of the Limassol police. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
The untaxed products were found when, during a coordinated operation carried out yesterday following a tip-off, members of the Limassol police stopped a car driven by a 58-year-old man in Limassol at 4.30pm.
In the car of the 58-year-old, the following untaxed products were found and seized as evidence: 120 packets of tobacco, 80 packets of cigarettes and 2.5 kg of hookah tobacco. In the possession of the 58-year-old, the sum of EUR 1,805 was also found.
According to a police statement, the 58-year-old was arrested for an offence of his own accord, while further investigation of the case was undertaken by the Customs Department.
