In order to facilitate citizens to install photovoltaic systems for their own consumption, the Council of Ministers has decided to amend the Plan for the Production of Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources for own consumption.
As stated in a written statement by the Deputy Government Spokesperson, Nivi Parisinou, the main amendment concerns the inclusion of the category of virtual net-metering for residential consumers and professional farmers, who cannot, due to lack of space and other environmental and urban planning restrictions, install photovoltaic systems on the roofs of their homes or agricultural premises. Under the category of virtual offsetting, consumption will be covered by the output of a photovoltaic system installed on a different site.
