Footballer Matt Darbyshire made a commendable act of altruism, as, according to an announcement by the Pancyprian Football Players Association, "one of the Charity Idols ambassadors stands by a 50-year-old family man who needs financial support to undergo surgery and treatment for a serious health problem he is facing".
Darbyshire has also donated two valuable items from his collection for auction.
This is the shirt he wore for Blackburn in the 2007 UEFA Cup.
