In 268 complaints for various traffic offences, members of the Special Motorcycle Squad and the Road Accident Prevention Squads of Headquarters and Avdimou, in the city and district of Limassol.
According to the Police, the traffic checks were carried out between the hours of 6am and 5.30pm today, in the context of preventing road traffic collisions, consolidating road awareness and increasing the sense of security of the citizen.
The majority of the complaints concerned offences which have been proven to be the main causes of serious and fatal road traffic collisions, it added.
In particular, 77 complaints concerned exceeding the speed limit, 65 complaints for not wearing a seat belt and 21 complaints for driving with hands free (using a mobile phone).
