The Cyprus Association of Architects, expressing its strong concern about the renovation practices of old buildings following a recent incident, calls for the appointment of a full team of designers and a responsible architect for the renovation of old buildings.

Regarding the collapse of part of the roof of a shop at the junction of Themis and Aneksartisia streets in Limassol, which endangered the lives of passing citizens, the Limassol Metropolis immediately announced the start of restoration work on the building, which was erected in the period 1969-1970 and is owned by the Church of Agia Napa. According to the record of a competent official of the Limassol Municipality, the unpleasant incident is due to the fact that the recent renovation of the building was carried out without carrying out the necessary tests for the durability of the concrete.
