Spain's economy grew by 5% in 2021, showing a remarkable recovery compared to a year earlier, but still below the Spanish government's target, according to a preliminary estimate by Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE). [THE SPANISH GOVERNMENT EXPECTED GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GDP) TO GROW BY 6.5% IN 2021 AFTER THE ECONOMY CONTRACTED BY ALMOST 11% IN 2020, THE WORST RESULT WITHIN THE EUROZONE.
The government forecast was considered unrealistic by economists.
