The Larnaca - Famagusta Permanent Criminal Court today imposed a three and a half year prison sentence on a 34-year-old man, after finding him guilty of the offence of facilitating the illegal entry of a third country national into the territory of the Republic.
A statement issued by the Police Headquarters Communication Office said that "according to the facts of the case, a member of the Aliens and Immigration Service, around 8 in the morning of November 11, 2021, spotted the 34-year-old man transporting a 29-year-old woman, a third-country national, in a car he was driving on a road in Larnaca."
"Examinations conducted revealed that the woman entered the free areas of the Republic from the occupied territories, with the mediation of the 34-year-old, for a financial reward," it added.
