Cyprus is among the first countries in Europe to have a high percentage of women in the police force, Assistant Director of the Crime Prevention Department and member of the Committee for Equality between Women and Men in the Police, Kyriaki Lambrianidou, said on Friday, noting that the average number of female police officers in the Cyprus Police is 25%.
Presenting data resulting from a Eurostat survey, during the event held on the occasion of the "International Women's Day" for female police officers, Lambrianidou said that in Europe the average number of female police officers is close to 18%, stressing that in Cyprus this percentage is 25%.
