20% of pupils in Pafos District primary schools did not attend classes today, as did 12.5% of teachers, according to Pafos Primary Education Officer, Dimitris Mikellidis.

In a statement to CNA, Mr.Mikellidis said that today, the first day of operation of primary schools after the holidays, the absentees amount to 65 teachers and 1,200 students in the Pafos district's primary schools. He added that 15 teachers did not show up at the Kindergartens in Paphos district.

As Mr. Mikellidis explained, this figure includes a significant number of children who were absent, not because they are outbreaks or contacts of outbreaks, but because they were sick with common childhood illnesses.
