[Cyprus Times] Ukraine and EU autonomy in defence and energy on the agenda of the informal summit

The developments following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and mainly the issues concerning the strategy to strengthen the EU's autonomy on Defence and Energy issues will occupy the two-day Informal European Council in Paris, said Government Spokesman Marios Pelekanos.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, in a statement from Paris, the Government Spokesman said that "the President of the Republic is already in Paris, where over the next two days he will participate in the work of the Informal Meeting of the European Council."

According to Mr. Pelecanos, during the next two days it is expected that the priority will be to discuss the developments arising after the Russian invasion[/B] of Ukraine[/B] and, above all, the issues concerning the strategy of strengthening the EU's autonomy in the fields of defence and energy.

On Friday, 11 March, competitiveness issues in the EU will be discussed, as well as Investment and the new recovery model with a focus on digital and green transition.

On the sidelines of the summit on Friday, leaders have been invited to participate in an event to be held in memory of the victims of terrorism, he said.
