The Ministry of Transportation of Northern Cyprus has announced the creation of a new airline, with plans to begin flights from Ercan Airport as early as April 16.

It is planned that this company will fly under the permits of the Turkish carrier Freebird Airlines. They are going to start with flights to Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, then they want to launch flights to Russia via Antalya.

The name of the new airline is Fly KHY - Kıbrıs Hava Yolları, which Google translates from Turkish as "Cyprus Airlines" (not to be confused with Cyprus Airways). Perhaps the owners took the name of the company that operated in Northern Cyprus from 1974 to 2010 and was called Kıbrıs Türk Hava Yolları (Cyprus Turkish Airlines) as their idea. Probably not.

There are no other details yet, nor is there a website yet.
