Strikes are planned at seven German airports on Friday, February 18, Reuters reports.

Germany's Verdi trade union has called on workers at airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dortmund, Hannover and Bremen to hold a 24-hour strike, explaining that negotiations over wage increases have yet to yield progress.

Airlines across Europe have faced labor strife as the rapid recovery of tourism has led to staff shortages, and skyrocketing inflation has prompted employees to demand wage increases.

The catastrophic shortage of workers in ground services is still being felt by travelers," Verdi said in a statement.

The strike is expected to affect mostly domestic travel, but anyone planning travel to/from Germany that day should check airline alerts.
