The Republic of Cyprus will propose Professor Costas Kadis for the post of Commissioner of the European Commission. Dr. Kadis' experience from the various institutional positions he has served the Republic of Cyprus, as well as his academic background and training, are key elements in his selection for the important position of Commissioner.
Last week, President Christodoulides had a telephone conversation with the President of the European Commission, Mrs Ursula von der Leyen, where they exchanged views on the matter and he informed her about the selection of the person he will propose as well as the criteria by which he made his decision.
The President of the Republic wishes to express his sincere thanks and congratulate the outgoing Commissioner Stella Kyriakidou for her work and for her important contribution in the field of health, especially in a critical period for the European Union, in the midst of the pandemic.
