The 27 people remain inside the Dead Zone and are being assisted by the United Nations.

As the Republic of Cyprus, as we have stated from the outset, we are in contact with the Peace Force to address their humanitarian needs, if requested.

We are confident that the Peace Force will do what is necessary for the living conditions of these people, given their particular circumstances.

Any statements should not overlook the root cause and the perpetrators of this difficult situation in which irregular migrants find themselves within the Dead Zone. After all, they themselves have described who and how they were guided, after passing through safe third countries, before arriving in the occupied territories.

The Republic of Cyprus is fully aware of and respects its international obligations, as well as of course national and EU law, which is why it continues effective surveillance along the Dead Zone, in accordance with the Green Line Regulation, as is our obligation.
