While the President of the Republic is on his way to Brussels for the European Council, we have been informed by the media about the letter of Mrs.Anita Demetriou, President of DISY and the House of Representatives, to convene a National Council, the second one within a week, but also because a similar letter has been sent by the General Secretary of AKEL, we would like to note that the President of the Republic, with full respect for the beneficial institution, convenes a National Council when and whenever the circumstances and developments are such that it is considered that its meeting is justified.
We also recall that to date, since the day the Government took office, the National Council has already convened four times, where the political leadership has been thoroughly and thoroughly briefed both by the President of the Republic himself and by the National Security Adviser and the Commander of the National Security Service, in cases where it was deemed necessary.
When developments and facts differ from the last National Council, the President of the Republic will convene an immediate and timely meeting of the House.
