The Government has been informed since last March, by the European Union Prosecutor's Office, about the opening of an investigation into the procedures and conditions for the award in 2019 of the project concerning the construction of a gas import terminal at Vasilikos.
Since then, the Cypriot authorities have been in full cooperation with the European Public Prosecutor's Office in order to have an in-depth investigation of the case and to attribute any responsibilities where and when they exist.
The President of the Republic's instructions are to have a full investigation around this matter. No one is above the rule of law and there will be no discount to the principles of transparency and accountability.
