On the occasion of World Consumer Day, which is celebrated every year on 15 March, the Consumer Protection Service (CPC) stresses that it is working methodically and systematically to enhance consumer protection and, at the same time, to empower consumers. This objective is achieved through a range of actions that ensure enforcement, enhance consumer safety and improve information and education for both consumers and businesses.

In order to underline the importance of World Consumer Day, the CPC is organising the following events tomorrow, Friday 15 March:

[*]A workshop at the Journalists' House (10:00-13:30), during which round table discussions will be held on the following topics:
  1. Accuracy - The challenges after the pandemic and current geopolitical developments and how they affect consumers.
  2. Artificial Intelligence and how it affects consumers.

You can find the event programme here.

[*]Visit of the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry and the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth to the 3rd Primary School of Pallouriotissa at 08:30, during which information presentations will be given to students and information material will be distributed. It is stressed that the YPC has long supported the work of schools by educating students on consumer education and the development of a good consumer culture. [*]Public information and distribution of information material in malls in all cities (between 10:00 and 13:00).

Finally, on this occasion, the YPC urges consumers to make use of the means at their disposal, to be careful in their purchases, to be informed and to assert their rights.
