The Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN) organized a Workshop on "Connecting, Informing, Empowering: Digital Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence". The Workshop was held on Friday, 14 June 2024, from 8:30 to 14:00, at the Pedagogical Institute in Nicosia. In her address, the Minister stressed that digital education and the modernisation of our educational system, through the integration of new technologies in teaching and learning and the development of digital skills of teachers, students and pupils, are a key objective of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and its governance programme. Haroula Angeli, Professor at the University of Cyprus, spoke about the use of artificial intelligence to enhance teaching and learning. Mr. Savvas Hadjichristofis, Professor at Neapolis University, focused on the power of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
The second part of the conference presented good practices implemented by schools, teachers, students and pupils in the framework of the programmes and activities of the Educational Technology Sector: Safe School for the Internet, Innovative Schools and Educational Hubs, Recording Memory - Documentary Production by Students, Student Internet Radio, Young Educators for the Internet and Augmented Reality Technologies in Education.
In the third part of the Workshop, teachers had the opportunity to participate in workshops, offered by officials of the Pedagogical Institute, on the following topics: Activities in the classroom [*]Empowering teachers to use artificial intelligence in education [*]Learning programming by creating games using micro:bit [*]Connecting to discover well-being in the digital world [*]Augmented reality technologies in education: getting to know VR/MR Quest autonomous systems [*]Interactive video as a medium and as a creation [/LIST]
