The contract for the start of road construction in the area of the new football stadium in Kolossi was signed today, January 28, 2022, by the Director of the Department of Public Works Mr. Antonis Koutsoullis, on behalf of the Government, and the Director of Tenders and Purchasing of Iacovou Brothers (Constructions) Ltd.
The Project is located in the Limassol District and specifically includes Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, Tasou Isaac Street and four new ramps (entrance/exit) to and from the motorway (A6) according to the construction plans.

It concerns the improvement/reconstruction of the road network in the area of the new football stadium in Kolossi, the creation of entry/exit ramps to and from the National Road Network, as well as the creation of three new roundabouts.
The project will be executed in three successive phases.
The implementation of the project is scheduled to start in February 2022, with a duration of 19 months and a cost of €9.1 million (including VAT).
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yiannis Karousos, welcomed the implementation of this project, which is expected to upgrade the Limassol District. "The new football stadium currently under construction in the area of Kolossi is an announcement by the President of the Republic and as a project that will upgrade the Limassol District, we must ensure the creation of all supporting construction projects that will accompany it and better serve both fans and residents of the area," he said.
He expressed confidence that the Contractor Company will work, in cooperation with the Department of Public Works, to meet the set schedules and implement all the requirements of the project. The citizens, the Minister stressed, "need to see the announcements become actions and be transformed into projects that will serve them and ensure their interests."
Welcoming the signing of the contract for the start of construction works, the President of the Cyprus Sports Organisation Mr. Andreas Michaelides said that today is a day of joy for the Organisation. "We have been waiting for this announcement for quite some time. I want to thank and congratulate the Minister of Transport and his colleagues for running this project and this announcement is excellent, because we were very worried in the Organization and in the teams that the games would start and we would not be ready. The Minister has given the dates, the project will be done in three phases and we are confident that this schedule will be followed faithfully so that there will be no inconvenience to the fans, the people who will go to the stadium at the start of the games," Michaelides noted.
He expressed confidence that the President of the Republic, who has been closely following the project from the beginning, will also be satisfied with today's development.
